Can the carer be disturbed at night?

Live-in care is classed as “unmeasured work” and is subject to a Daily Average Hours Agreement with the Carer. This means that there is a maximum number of hours of care the carer will typically provide during any 24 hour period which is stated in the Care Plan. As such, although our carers live in the client’s home, they are not expected to deliver care 24 hours a day and must be able to get sufficient rest at night.

Where a carer is unable to get sufficient rest:
  • we will be in contact with you to discuss arrangements for ensuring the carer has the required rest and carry out a reassessment of the Care Plan as soon as possible; and
  • we reserve the right to arrange a second Carer to attend your home to deliver the care if it is assessed that our carer cannot do their work safely. The costs of any second Carer will be for your account with the associated costs being agreed with you.
